The ancient Egyptians worshiped over 2000 gods and goddesses, many of which had animal heads and human bodies. They also had legends of how they believed their world began. The ancient Egyptians had many many temples around the city, which were considered dwelling places for the gods. Each city had a specific temple or their city god. Priests were responsible to care for the gods and their needs. Pyramids were built to protect the dead pharaoh's body. The large structures were meant to last forever, as to wish the pharaoh a peaceful afterlife. The pyramids, were too tied to their religious beliefs. In order for the pharaoh to be let into the afterworld, it must have become a mummy and safely put into his tomb, which was located in the pyramid. This will be his home for afterlife. |
